GEORGE TOWN: Penang have retained South Korean hotshot Lee Gil-hoon for another season.
Football Association of Penang (FAP) vice-president Datuk Gary Nair confirmed this on Wednesday.
Gil-hoon was the top scorer in the Premier League this season with 15 goals.
“We are delighted to have signed Gil-hoon – our scoring machine – for another season. Our aim is to challenge strongly for a place in the Super League,” said Gary.
Penang missed out on promotion this season after finishing third in the Premier League behind Police and Felda United.
The Panthers have hired a new coach Jackson Ferreira Tiago of Brazil to replace K. Devan.
The former Indonesian national team coach has included two Brazilians, who featured in the Indonesian Super League, in the squad. The duo are central defender Reinaldo Rodrigues de Oliveira Lobo and striker Alberto Concalus Da Costa.
The other Brazilian in the team is attacking midfielder Hilton Moreira, who has been retained.
