PETALING JAYA: Premier League champions Police wrapped up their campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Kedah at the Selayang Stadium on Tuesday.
The cops finished top of the 12-team standings with 52 points despite going down to the Canaries. They finished ahead of second-placed Felda United by two points. Felda in their last game defeated Perlis 3-2 in Kangar.
At the Selayang Stadium, the visitors raced to a comfortable 3-0 lead with goals from Syazwan Zainon (44th), South Korean winger Namkung Woong (56th) and Billy Mehmet (58th) before Police staged a late fightback and bounced back with goals from Ali Ashfaq (60th) and Fauzi Majid (78th).
Penang and Kedah finished in third and fourth spot with 44 and 38 points respectively.
The top two teams - Police and Felda secured promotion to the Super League next season.
The top four - Police, Felda, Penang and Kedah have also automatically qualified for the 16-team Malaysia Cup competition, which kicks off in August.
