He can report tunnel fracas to FIFA: Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Football Association (TFA) will not stop T-Team’s Evaldo Goncalves from lodging a report with world footballing body FIFA over the Larkin Stadium tunnel fiasco.

TFA president Datuk Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid said they will leave the decision to Goncalves but the TFA will not make the report on his behalf.

“The foreign players have agents to represent them and I will leave it to him to decide. But we (TFA) will not lodge a report with FIFA because I think we are bit restricted due to the Football Association of Malaysia’s (FAM) rules,” said Wan Ahmad.

Goncalves, who alleged that he was assaulted in the Feb 1 incident, said he will wait for the outcome of FAM’s and the police’s investigations before pursuing the matter.

“For now, I just want to focus on T-Team’s next match against Kelantan in the Super League this weekend,” said the 33-year-old Brazilian striker.

Goncalves, together with his compatriot Fabio Flor de Azevado and fitness coach Stefano Impagliazzo, had lodged police reports over the alleged assault which occurred at half-time during their FA Cup second-round match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at the Larkin Stadium.

Goncalves alleged that he was punched in the nose by a top Johor FA official while Impagliazzo claimed he was kicked in the groin by the official’s escort.
