Score or get the chop, Perak tell foreign strikers

IPOH: Perak’s misfiring strikers Bosnian Zelimir Terkes and Brazilian Eliel Da Cruz Guardiano need to start scoring goals or risk having their contracts terminated.

Team manager Datuk Azhar Ahmad said the duo would be given two more games to prove themselves.

“Working hard on the field and being unable to score goals are two different matters. It is frustrating for the fans if the strikers do not deliver the goods,” said Azhar.

“We are paying them handsomely and they need to start (earning) it.”

Guardiano has scored one goal – against Super League rivals Terengganu at the Perak Stadium last month – while Terkes has yet to open accounts.

Azhar said the team have already shortlisted several players to replace the duo if they failed to live up to expectations.

“We are hoping to bring in Brazilians Anderson Rodrigues Cardoso and David Bala.

“Cardoso had a trial with us and was impressed with our team and wants to join us,” said Azhar.

“Bala’s contract with Dong Nai Football Club in Vietnam is ending soon and we hope to bring him in.”

Azhar said the team are targeting a top-five finish in the league and would strive to do anything to achieve it.
