Sarawak to get frisk-y with fans

Crowd control

KUCHING: Fans attending the Malaysia Cup semi-final return leg match between hosts Sarawak and Pahang at the State Stadium here on Saturday will be thoroughly screened to ensure a trouble-free evening.

Sarawak FA secretary-general Abdullah Julaihi said they will get the assistance of the police and Rela personnel to conduct body search on all fans entering the stadium.

“We want to ensure that no dangerous and prohibited items are brought into the stadium and to avoid any untoward incidents,” he said, adding that they will also check for those having forged tickets.

Abdullah also said that the Sarawak FA had printed 20,000 tickets for the match although the State Stadium has a 22,000-seating capacity.

He said 10,000 ticket were sold at the State Stadium yesterday while another 10,000 will be sold today from 10am until 5pm.

“We are taking a different approach (in ticket sale) by printing only 20,000 tickets because we believe there are parents who will be bringing along their children. This will help avoid over-crowding in the stadium,” he said, adding that 200 tickets had been allocated for Pahang fans.

Tickets are priced at RM15 (open terrace), RM20 (covered terrace) and RM35 (grandstand) at Zone C.
