Harimau Muda A still winless after defeat to Aussies

PETALING JAYA: The Harimau Muda A squad lost 2-0 to favourites Central Coast Mariners in their second Group A match of the invitational Menpora Cup at the Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung on Sunday.

Strikers Matt Simon and Mitchell Duke grabbed a goal each in the 43rd and 90th minutes respectively.

The defeat left coach Ong Kim Swee’s team out of the running for the final.

The result also meant that the national side are winless after two matches after the Harimau Muda A started their campaign with a 2-2 draw with Indonesian Super League side Persib Bandung on Friday.

The Australians, however, look the favourites for the title having already beaten Sriwijaya FC 2-0 in their opening match.

The Malaysians will take on bottom side Sriwijaya tomorrow with the hope of ending their campaign with a win.
