Ronaldo agrees to a five-year deal with Real

MADRID: Cristiano Ronaldo (pic) has agreed a new five-year deal with Real Madrid, dashing any hopes Manchester United had of re-signing the 28-year-old Portuguese star.

Madrid-based sports daily Marca reported that Ronaldo will earn €17mil per season which is one million more than what FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi gets at Barcelona.

With Ronaldo’s deal in place, Real president Florentino Perez will now intensify efforts to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale.
