PETALING JAYA: It was a disappointing opening day for the Malaysian diving team at the World Aquatics Championship in Gwangju, South Korea.

Diver Muhd Syafiq Puteh (pic) could only finish in 33rd place after accumulating a total score of 283.20 points during the preliminary round of the men’s 1m springboard event yesterday, thus missing out on the top-12 final round scheduled for Sunday.
