Raya celebration takes backseat for Shah as he charts path to Paris

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom (pic) is giving up the precious opportunity to spend Hari Raya with his family in Muar to perform national duty in the third and final round of the Track Nations Cup in Milton, Canada this week.

The 27-year-old Shah Firdaus will set aside Raya celebrations to focus on the sprint in a bid to secure the crucial qualifying points for the Paris Olympics. Shah Firdaus won the keirin silver medal and reached the sprint quarter-final at the International Belgian Track Meeting at the Flemish Cycling Center Eddy Merckx in Ghent, last Sunday.
