Amarjit retains post in world body

Malaysia National Cycling Federation Vice President Datuk Amarjit Singh

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) vice president Datuk Amarjit Singh has retained his seat in the International Cycling Union (UCI).

Amarjit was re-elected to the UCI management committee for the 2021-2025 term after winning 38 votes out of 43 delegates, including nine from the Asian continent in Leuven, Belgium on Friday.

“I thank my supporters, especially UCI president David Lappertient, vice president Dr Azzam Wagih (Dr Mohd Wagih Azzam) and MNCF president Datuk Abu Samah Wahab who helped in my election campaign,” he said. Amarjit, who is also a member of the ACC executive board, first won the post in Bergen, Norway in 2017.

“I will continue to uphold Asia’s voice globally, aside from ensuring a smooth Malaysian agenda, including the Le Tour de Langkawi if any situation arises,” he added. — Bernama
