And Mario Vogt made it a historic day when he emerged as the overall champion in the inaugural Tour de Iskandar Johor yesterday.
Vogt clocked 8’35:46 in the three-day race to win the blue jersey.
The third and final race from Kluang to Johor Baru (107.7km) was won by Wang Junyong of Hengxiang Cycling team in 2’14:48.
Vogt was delighted with his breakthrough win.
“I have been competing in Asia since 2010 but have only finished in the top five. You can be sure I’ll be back next year to defend my title,” said the German.
Ryan Roth of XSpeed United won the white jersey (sprint) while Mathew Zenovich from St George Cycling bagged the red jersey (hill climb).
Sapura’s Muhammad Shaiful Adlan Mohd Shukri took the black jersey for the best young rider.
Sapura team manager Fairoz Izni Abdul Ghani was elated that the team continued their fine run after winning the LTdL.
