Cyclist Afiq aims to deliver historic medal for Malaysia

Pedalling to glory: Afiq Afify Rizan (right) will ride in the men’s sprint (B) and 1km time trial (B) with his pilot Mohd Khairul Adha Rasol in Gold Coast.

PETALING JAYA: The 2017 world keirin champion Azizulhasni Awang won’t be the only Commonwealth Games gold medal prospect for Malaysia at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Gold Coast next month if Afiq Afify Rizan has his way.

The 22-year-old, who is visually impaired, has set his sights on becoming the first para athlete to strike historic gold for Malaysia at the Games.
