Gold rush for Malaysia in Taiwan as track cyclists bag three


Farina pipped India's Deborah in a photo finish for the keirin gold at the Taiwan Cup Track International Classic II.

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Khairil Nizam Rasol and Farina Shawati Mohd Adnan stole the show as Malaysia bagged three out of the four sprint titles in the Taiwan Cup Track International Classic II cycling championships at the Hsin Chu Velodrome in Taiwan.

In the top-six keirin final on Monday, Khairil, 18, charged to his first gold in the senior ranks of the UCI Class 1 meet ahead of Taiwan’s Kang Shih-feng and Thailand’s Kapunya Worawut. Fellow Malaysians Mohd Fadhil Mohd Zonis and Muhd Shah Firdaus Sahrom were fourth and fifth.
