Sprinter Shah Firdaus underlines talent with double victory in Taiwan


Shah Firdaus was the clear winner in the keirin event at the Taiwan Cup Track International at Hsin Chu Velodrome.

PETALING JAYA: Youngster Muhd Shah Firdaus Sahrom clinched a golden double for Malaysia in the Taiwan Cup Track International Classic I cycling championships at the Hsin Chu Velodrome in Taiwan.

The 19-year-old Shah Firdaus, touted as the successor to national No. 1 Azizulhasni Awang, crossed the finish line first in the men’s elite keirin final. Mohd Shariz Efendi Shahrin took the silver for a Malaysian one-two finish on Sunday, after homester Kang Shih-feng, who crossed the line second, was relegated to last place for an infringement.
