PORT OF SPAIN (Reuters) - West Indies batsman Alick Athanaze led home resistance as he fell agonisingly short of a maiden test century but still did enough to help ensure a draw in the first test against South Africa at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain on Sunday.

South Africa set the West Indies a target of 298 to win the match after declaring their second innings before lunch on the final day in a bid to try and bowl out their hosts and win the first of the two-test series.
