THE Penang Sports Club (PSC) Scorpions team won the Masters Category of the 23rd PSC-RUMC International Hockey Fest, thanks to a golden goal by former national striker Hacharanjit Singh.
The goal, which came just five minutes into extra time was enough to see off Royal Selangor Club in the final at the PSC greens in Western Road, George Town.
Last year, the PSC outfit lost to Ipoh Veterans in a similar fashion through a golden goal.
Organising chairman Hari Singh Dilon paid tribute to his team for putting up a magnificent performance in the recent one-day tournament.
“It’s never easy for us to stay undefeated throughout the tournament.
“We fought gallantly against Royal Selangor Club and it was never easy to beat them as they had many former national players in their team.
“I am proud that we won,” he said after the prize presentation ceremony.
Hari has put on hold the celebration as they will be taking part in the International Hockey Fest at Royal Selangor Club on Saturday.
In the Veterans final, Kuala Lumpur’s Cheers successfully retained their crown for the second straight year by edging Selangor’s Club Aman 1-0.
They beat PSC Spyders on a golden goal last year.
