PENANG Chinese Football Association (PCFA) won the annual Waterfall Rangers Soccer Sevens Master’s category, beating Kedah’s Pulau Besar FC 2-1 on penalties in the final.
Both teams had fought to a goalless deadlock at full-time at the Penang Sports Club in George Town.
PCFA took home RM2,000 while runners-up Pulau Besar FC had to settle for RM1,500.
PCFA skipper Lim Seong Jin said they finally won the competition after taking part in the series for the fourth time.
“With the right selection of players, I believe we can win more tournaments of this nature.
“Former state players like Moey Kok Hong and Thoong Chee Eng contributed positively in our campaign.
“I am glad we managed to win despite facing tough opponents in the competition,” said Lim after the prize presentation ceremony.
Kuala Lumpur’s Huls FC also returned home with RM2,000 for winning the Veteran’s category.
They thrashed fellow Kuala Lumpur outfit Sentosa FC 3-0 in the final.
Veterans (Main) Final: Huls FC (Kul) bt Sentosa FC (Kul) 3-0.
Veterans (Plate) Final: Beluga FC (Kul) bt Timuran (Pen) 1-0.
Masters (Main): Final: Penang Chinese FA (Pen) bt Pulau Besar (Ked) 2-1 on penalties (FT 0-0).
