IN conjunction with the first and largest ever gathering of Manchester United Football Club fans throughout South-East Asia, Malaysian fans are invited to participate in the United Red Army Malaysia Gala Dinner to be held on April 27 at the Palace of the Golden Horses in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

Organised by Red Army Malaysia (RAM), the official Manchester United Fan Club in Malaysia, the dinner is in aid of United for Unicef, with the aim to raise £10,000 (RM54,000) for numerous assistance programmes for children in South-East Asia, particularly Malaysia.

The United for Unicef

partnership is the longest running of its kind between a football club and a global children’s organisation and has to-date raised more than £4mil (RM21.6mil) which

has gone towards changing the lives of millions of children worldwide.

The charity-through-football initiative underlines RAM’s commitment to reposition its role as a supporters club from one that is solely social and recreational to an organisation with members who are empowered to give back to the community. It is estimated that there are some two million Man Utd fans in Malaysia alone.

“The love for football binds all of our members together, and that same love and commitment is capable of achieving powerful things, one of which is to contribute to society, affect change and bring assistance to the needy, especially children,” said RAM president Datuk Rosthman Ibrahim, adding that RAM was leading this initiative to build and bring together the club’s fans in Malaysia and South-East Asia.

In March, the club presented RM5,000 to assist with the cost of medical treatment for Nur Auliya Rahmat Faizan from Perlis, who suffers from biliary atresia, a

rare disease of the liver and bile ducts.

Fans can purchase tickets to attend the United Red Army Malaysia Gala Dinner at RM150 per seat or RM1,500 per table (for 10 people). Interested corporate sponsors can also contribute to this worthy cause with the purchase of tables (for 10 people) at RM5,000, RM10,000, RM25,000 and RM50,000.

The guest-of-honour for the dinner will be Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the patron of RAM.

Meanwhile, 10 lucky fans attending the dinner will stand

a chance of winning a lucky

draw offering an all-expense-paid package to Old Trafford stadium in Manchester.

The package includes return air fare, airport transfer, accommodation for four days and three nights, a match ticket, a pass to Old Trafford and a museum tour, a one-day city tour, travel insurance and a RAM official T-shirt and scarf.

With more than RM100,000 worth of prizes up for grabs, fans will also be in the running to win signed and worn jerseys by current and former players.

Purchases can be made via the United Red Army mobile application downloadable via the Apple App Store or Google Play, or via the website link www.events.redarmymalaysia.com
