THE MKH Walk 2018 saw 900 participants complete a 5km racewalking challenge at MKH Bhd’s expanding flagship development, Kajang 2.
The event which was aimed at encouraging the greater community to adopt a healthy lifestyle through racewalking, kicked-off with an energetic warm-up session led by seasoned instructors from Kajang-based fitness centre, Extreme Fitness.
Following a short briefing conducted by Race Walkers’ Association of Malaysia deputy vice-president Khoo Chong Beng, participants welcomed Kajang District Police (IPD) chief Astt Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, MKH Bhd deputy managing director Datuk Benny Chen as well as deputy property director Datuk Kenneth Chen for the flag-off ceremony at 7am.
As participants from all nine categories stepped past the starting line, ACP Ahmad Dzaffir joined in as well, following the crowd with 100 fellow police officers from IPD Kajang.
In only 26 minutes, Tan Chee Leong from Penang became the first male participant to cross the finishing line while Lauran Tan May Chern was the first female participant to complete the walk within 31 minutes.
“It is truly motivating for my family and I to be active in racewalking,” said Chee Leong, who won the title in the Men’s Open category.
The top five winners in the Men’s Veteran and Women, Open Men and Women, Under-18 and Under-12 Boys and Girls, as well as the Family Fun Walk received cash prizes and hampers for their achievements.
There was also a lucky draw session featuring attractive prizes.
After the prize-giving ceremony, participants indulged in a variety of healthy Japanese food as well as enjoyed outdoor activities that included a 250ft-long inflatable course with eight obstacle games
at the MKH Splash ‘N’ Slide carnival.
The carnival was held in conjunction with the launching of two developments: Kajang East – Precinct 1 and Kajang’s first transit-oriented high-rise development MKH Boulevard II located next to the Kajang KTM and MRT Interchange Station.
Supported by the Malaysia Sports Commissioner Office, MKH Walk 2018 was jointly organised by the Race Walkers’ Association of Malaysia, Kajang Municipal Council, IPD Kajang and Hospital Kajang.
