PERAK won 21 gold medals, 24 silver and 16 bronze during the 4th International Taekwondo Federation tournament in China.
The tournament saw 20 participants from the Perak Taekwondo Association pit their skills.
Ling Chi Yan from SMJK Poi Lam contributed five gold medals through Individual Sparring, Team Pattern, Team Sparring, Pre-Free Sparring and Breaking Event categories.
Chi Yan also added two silver medals from the Individual Pattern and Special Technique events.
Another team member, Chan Ze Yen, who had an injury before the start of the tournament, managed to grab one gold, two silver and three bronze medals for the team.
Lim Pui Yee and Chan Kai Tong earned two gold medals in the Individual Pattern and Individual Sparing categories.
Association president Khoo Bu Leong said his students did well in the tournament despite the event’s different points counting system.
“Although the system is based on point deduction, our students still managed to bag some medals which is a fantastic achievement,” he said.
Association secretary Lee Wei Kean also congratulated the students for winning the medals.
“They have done well. We hope they can train harder and be well prepared for the next tournament,” he added.
