Manchester City and Ubtech Robotics Corp have renewed their unique partnership that will continue to deliver information and entertainment to football fans.

Since the partnership launch in 2016, Ubtech has been producing engaging content for Manchester City fans around the world through its robots, including the Alpha 2 robot “signing” for Manchester City as the club’s new squad member.

The robots have also been part of match day entertainment with fun displays on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium and in the Manchester City square.

For the 2018/19 season, the Cruzr robot may be seen at the Etihad Stadium providing fans and guests with match day and retail information.

Last season, Ubtech Robotics teamed up with the club’s foundation, City in the Community, to deliver Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (Stem) and coding lessons to schoolchildren across the Greater Manchester area through the use of Ubtech’s Jimu robot range.

The partnership has now been implemented to benefit over 1,120 children across 45 local primary schools, which will help equip students with valuable skills to prepare them for future trends in the digital world.

Following the success of the programme in Manchester, Ubtech and City Football Group will also be rolling this out in Melbourne, Australia and New York, US in the coming months.

City Football Group Partnerships senior vice-president Damian Willoughby said, “We are delighted to announce this extension to our partnership with Ubtech.

“This is a truly unique partnership that has provided entertaining content between fans, players and robots.”

Ubtech chief executive officer and founder Zhou Jian said, “In the past two years, through a combination of sports, entertainment and artificial intelligence, we have joined forces to explore a new way of innovation. As a professional and innovative team, Manchester City is a natural fit for us.

We are looking forward to continuing our partnership.”
