The Coway Run is set to return this year on Oct 7 at MAEPS, Serdang, where the race towards a healthy lifestyle is placed on the pedestal with a “cool” twist and a charity element.

Adopting the theme “Beat the Heat”, water sprinklers, mist tunnels and wind tunnels will be installed along the route to allow sprinters to run comfortably as well as add an element of surprise.

Coway (M) Sdn Bhd managing director Kyle Choi Ki Ryong said, “Living in a tropical country has its perks, but perhaps the heat and humidity can be a deterrent for many as it accelerates fatigue and dehydration.

“With Coway Run 2018, we aim to create a cool and comfortable experience for our runners to ‘Beat the Heat’ with an exciting route,” he said on the inspiration behind the theme.

Proceeds from the run will also go towards supporting Coway’s annual CSR initiative, the Happy Water Project, which strives to provide indigenous communities with clean water.

Choi noted that while many communities still did not have access to clean water, Coway was committed to help those in need by providing rainwater supply devices, especially in rural areas.

“At Coway, we believe everyone deserves the best without exemption; we recognise Coway Run 2018 as an apt platform to raise awareness towards this issue among our community.

“As such, we pledge to donate RM10 from every ticket purchased to the cause of the Happy Water Project,” Choi added.

The Coway Run 2018 will include 10km and 5km distances for men and women in the following categories: Open (for ages 16 and above), International (for ages 16 and above) and Veteran (for ages 40 and above).

Local fitness model Jordan Yeoh will join the run again this year to run alongside participants as they take every step towards the finishing line.

Coway is setting up an obstacle course for children so that they can enjoy themselves while their parents or guardians take part in the race.

Additionally, Coway plans to bring a taste of Korea to the grounds of the race with a Korean Village area with food trucks, photo props and a live band to entertain the crowd.

“This year’s run will no doubt be bigger and better than before as we bring friends and families together on this special occasion and making a change to live pure and to take a step forward in leading an active lifestyle,“ said Choi.
