Football fever is gripping the nation. The World Cup is almost into its knockout stages and this is where it gets exciting.

Sixteen countries will do battle from tomorrow in the knockout stages for football supremacy.

To ensure Malaysians have the energy to keep up with all the matches, a home-grown Malaysian brand has teamed up with an exclusive offer for The Star readers – either score big with free beverages from their favourite beverage brand CoolBlog, or get to pick up free copies of The Star!

Dessert beverage brand, CoolBlog, featuring over 300 varieties of ice-blended and smoothie-based creations has teamed up with The Star to add some flavour and buzz to this football season.

CoolBlog’s chief executive officer Keith Loh will be taking on The Star football pundits, and these two brands will go head to head in an off-the-field battle unlike anything ever seen before here.

However, regardless of the outcome – Malaysians will always emerge triumphant with free beverages or get to pick up free newspapers.

How it works is simple. For every day matches are played, The Star will pick the “Match of the Day” and give its own prediction for the match while prior to each match, Loh will make his predictions for the match, which will be published in Star’s MetroSport pages.

For added spice, mercurial wizard, Happy the Hamster will provide his own prediction on who fellow spectators should champion for the win.

Readers will have to look out for these match predictions, because it will reap them sweet, cool rewards. Following each match, the losing side of the prediction will offer readers either free beverages or free newspapers.

Terms and conditions will apply. Limited only to selected CoolBlog stores in the Klang Valley, readers will have to bring the original match prediction in The Star to participating stores to claim their free beverage or free copy of The Star.

CoolBlog beverages are limited to one beverage per person on a first-come-first-served basis until the entire allocation of free beverages for each match has run out.

The free beverages can be redeemed at the following stores: The Mines, Melawati Mall, Tesco Mutiara Damansara, Berjaya Times Square, Setapak Sentral, Tesco Klang, Selayang Mall, Suria Jaya Mall, Caltex Puchong and Econsave Batang Kali.

Free copies of The Star can be redeemed at The Mines, Melawati Mall, Tesco Mutiara Damansara, Berjaya Times Square, and Setapak Sentral outlets.

Here’s the kicker! For the World Cup final match on July 15, should The Star pundits get their prediction correct, the first three people to bring The Star prediction to the CoolBlog store at Melawati Mall will not only win just one beverage as per prior predictions, but also free beverages for the rest of the year. (RM100 in value per month from August to December 2018).

Speaking to The Star, Loh said, “If there’s one thing that Malaysians love, apart from food, it’s football. This is a great way to treat Malaysians to some of their favourite beverage brands as they enjoy the matches, wherever they may be and be rewarded in the process, regardless of the prediction outcome.

“I would like to thank The Star for being a great sport in joining this challenge.”

The match predictions will begin tomorrow where both CoolBlog and The Star will give their predictions for the opening Round of 16 knockout matches. Watch this space for the prediction tomorrow and every day after that and after the match, claim your sweet rewards!
