Mixed martial arts arena for Permatang Pauh soon

AN allocation of RM650,000 has been approved to build a mixed martial arts (MMA) arena in Kampung Tanjung Putus, Permatang Pauh, Penang.

Permatang Pauh Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said said the project was currently going through the tender process and should be completed by this year.

“It’s a self-defence sports and now popular worldwide. We are hoping to develop it professionally for the younger generation here.

“The project also includes other sports such as futsal and sepak takraw.

“The objective is to promote a healthy lifestyle and produce sportsmen to represent the country in the future,” he said recently.

Zaidi added that there were 20 fighters now training at his ‘Team Zaidi MMA Academy nearby.

Earlier, he launched the Pendekar Fighting Challenge at Seberang Jaya Expo Site which saw 12 fighters taking part in the competition.
