Rising bowler Qurratu'Ain clinches gold by just a pin at Asian Junior C'ships

PETALING JAYA: Rising bowler Qurratu'Ain Idzhar delivered a stunning performance to clinch the gold medal by just one pin at the Asian Junior Championships in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday (July 27).

The 17-year-old defeated China’s Li Yiru by a single pin in the girls’ singles category, finishing with 1,239 pinfalls as Yiru recorded 1,238 pinfalls at the Qatar International Bowling Centre.

It was an improvement for Qurratu'Ain, who got bronze at last year’s edition during her debut at the Sunway Mega Lanes.

Taiwan’s Ho Yi Qing took the bronze medal with a total of 1,205 pinfalls.

Qurratu'Ain has been on a roll lately, coming in third overall and the top Malaysian finisher at the Hong Kong Open earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Adelia Nur Syazalee and Balqis Nurdini Khairul came in fourth and fifth after scoring 1,197 and 1,190 pinfalls, respectively.
