Rafiq and Co blaze lanes to win gold at Asian Championships

PETALING JAYA: National men bowlers performed brilliantly to claim the gold in the team event at the Asian Championships on Monday (Jan 16).

The team comprising of Timmy Tan, Rafiq Ismail, Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek, Tun Ameerul Hakim Tun Hasnul Azam and Ahmad Muaz Fishol scored a total of 7,323 pins to finish first at the SCCA Bowling Centre in Hong Kong.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) claimed 7,079 pins for silver while South Korea took home the bronze with 7,044 pins.

Malaysia also enjoyed a clean sweep in the All-Events when Rafiq (6128 pins), Timmy (6073 pins) and Ameerul (5954) won the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
