World champion Rafiq reaping the benefits of his love for bowling

GOLD...Malaysias Rafiq Ismail (top) celebrate with Sin Li Jane to win the Gold medal in Mixed doubles at Sunway Megalanes in Petaling Jaya yesterday.(22/08/2017/S.S.KANESAN/The Star)

PETALING JAYA: Rafiq Ismail’s journey to becoming a world bowling champion started at the tender age of four.

His parents – Ismail Nimat and Zaiton Abd Ghani – run a cafe business at a bowling centre in Ampang, so that explains why Rafiq was exposed to the sport at such an early age.
