Yi Hou steers Negri Sembilan to thumping win over Armed Forces

KUALA LUMPUR: A standout performance by Wong Yi Hou steered the Negri Sembilan men’s team to a huge 126-40 win over Armed Forces in Division One of the 61st Maba-Matrix Agong Cup.

The 23-year-old Yi Hou made 53% of his shots to score 26 points in the lop-sided victory at the Maba Stadium yesterday.

Head coach Bryant Lester said Yi Hou is hitting the purple patch at the right time especially with several big games coming up.

“I’m happy with the team’s performance. It was good for them to get this win under their belt, ” said Lester.

“The good thing is that Yi Hou has got his shooting back as he hasn’t been doing very well in the last two matches.”

“So I hope this will give him more confidence as we play the tougher games against the (Westports Malaysia) Dragons and then the playoffs.”

Negri Sembilan won their last two matches convincingly beating NS Matrix 92-55 and Perak 80-54.

Division One: Negri Sembilan bt Armed Forces 126-40; NS Matrix bt Perak 74-49.

Division Two: Sam Tiong Keng Youth bt Knight Fury 58-52; Firehorse bt Speed Hunters 75-36.

Negri Sembilan bt Putrajaya 107-29; Segamat bt Kuala Lumpur 73-48; Stallions bt Perak 50-39.
