Sabah cagers crush Selangor

PETALING JAYA: Sabah crushed Selangor 94-60 in the opening match of the 59th Agong Cup National Basketball Championships.

The Sabahans raced to a 23-17 lead before extending it to 43-30 at half-time at the Gem In Mall, Cyberjaya, yesterday.

With captain Chin Cheng Wah and youngster Phan Wee Chen on a hot streak, they pressed on before finishing with a huge 34-point win.

The 23-year-old Cheng Wah led with 24 points and 11 rebounds while 17-year-old Wee Chen finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

They will take on former champions Police today while Selangor are up against Melaka.

In the women’s championship, defending champions Selangor edged Melaka 61-56.
