KUALA LUMPUR: Defending women’s champions Johor stayed on course to defend their Agong Cup National Basketball Championship after overcoming Malacca in the semi-finals.

Johor were too strong for the Malaccans, winning 61-48 yesterday at the Maba Stadium, to set up a final clash with surprise package Selangor.

Pee Yann Yann top scored for Johor with 18 points while Ang Siew Teng chipped in with 16 points.

Malacca’s Hee Sook Ying responded with 16 points but it was not enough.

In the men’s Division One semi-finals, Malacca checked into the final with an 88-41 win over hosts Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

They will meet either Sarawak or Police in the final.
