PETALING JAYA: It was smooth sailing for mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat -Shevon Lai Jemie as they powered into the French Open quarter-finals after sweeping aside Scotland’s Alexander Dunn-Julie Macpherson 21-13, 21-10.

The husband-and-wife duo needed only 27 minutes to seal the second-round win on Thursday (Oct 23) at the Glaz Arena in Cesson-Sevigne.

The result also marked an improvement from their campaign last year, when they crashed out in the opening round to home favourites Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue.

Soon Huat-Shevon will now face either Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul-Sapsiree Taerattanachai or second seeds Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping of China in the quarter-finals.
