Tang Jie–Ee Wei battle back to reach French Open second round

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei fought back from a game down to beat Taiwan’s Yang Po-hsuan-Hu Ling-fang 16-21, 21-16, 21-12 in the opening round of the French Open in Cesson-Sevigne on Wednesday (Oct 22).

The fourth seeds were made to work hard for the win at the Glaz Arena before prevailing after a 47-minute battle.

It was their second victory over the Taiwanese pair, having also triumphed in their previous meeting at the Taiwan Open last year.

Tang Jie and Ee Wei would next face either Spain’s Ruben Garcia-Lucia Rodriguez or Taiwan’s Ye Hong-wei-Nicole Chan in the second round.
