PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin survived a scare before booking their spot in the World Championships third round.

Pang Ron-Su Yin surprisingly lost a game against Germany’s unheralded duo Malik Bourakkadi-Leona Michalski but managed to recover well to claim 21-10, 18-21, 21-12 victory in 50 minutes at the Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle in Paris on Wednesday (Aug 27).

The world No. 16 pair will face professionals and world No. 6 Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, who defeated Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul-Phataimas Mueonwong 21-19, 21-15, next.

Pang Ron-Su Yin are making their debuts together in the world meet.

Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei also made it to the third round after beating India’s Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Gadde 21-16, 21-11 in just 30 minutes.

The world No. 4 pair Tang Jie-Ee Wei will face world No. 11 Indonesians Jafar Hidayatullah-Felisha Pasaribu next.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei have never lost to the Indonesians before, winning both their past meetings in the Indonesian Masters in January and Japan Open last month and will be looking to maintain their 100 percent record.

Meanwhile, it was the end of the road for K. Letshanaa in the women's singles after she went down 19-21, 15-21 to India's 2019 world champion P.V. Sindhu.
