PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia's hopes of getting off to a good start in the World Championships were dashed after he went down to South Korea's Jeon Hyeok-jin.

Zii Jia, who was making his first competitive appearance after five months due to an ankle injury, looked short of his best and lost 17-21, 11-21 in the first round after 41 minutes at the Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle in Paris on Monday (Aug 25).

It was the 27-year-old's second defeat to the world No. 38 Korean in five meetings.

His best results was a quarter-finals finish in 2021.
