Jun Hao, Letshanaa to train in Denmark ahead of world meet

PETALING JAYA: Leong Jun Hao and K. Letshanaa are set to receive top-tier preparation for their World Championships debut in Paris next month, with both heading to Denmark for a training stint.

National singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen said Jun Hao and Letshanaa will join the Danish national team in Copenhagen, with Justin Hoh accompanying them as a sparring partner.

The stint is a long-held wish come true for Jonassen, who had previously hoped to host top international players at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) to train with his squad. This time, though, his players are the ones heading abroad.

The trio will train in Denmark from Aug 18-22 before the World Championships get under way from Aug 25-31.

“We requested this training opportunity with the Danish team as part of our build-up to the World Championships. It’s a great chance for our players to train with quality sparring partners. Denmark have plenty of depth, so this will be a good chance for our players to adapt and refine their game,” said Jonassen.

“Besides adjusting to the time zone and climate in Europe, they’ll also experience a different training atmosphere before stepping onto court in Paris.”
