Wei Chong-Kai Wun win all-Malaysian battle to reach China Open quarters

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun earned a hard-fought spot in the China Open quarter-finals after edging compatriots Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong in an all-Malaysian clash.

It was far from a straightforward win for Wei Chong-Kai Wun, who were pushed to the limit by the experienced Azriyn-Wee Kiong duo.

After dropping the opening game, the younger pair fought back to force a decider and eventually prevailed 17-21, 21-17, 21-19 in a 57-minute battle.

Their victory sets up another all-Malaysian encounter in the quarter-finals against Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, with Malaysia now assured of at least one representative in the semi-finals.
