Tang Jie-Ee Wei reach China Open second round, Pang Ron-Su Yin crash out


PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei reached the China Open second round but teammates Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin’s campaign ended early.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei overcame a shaky start to beat Americans Presley Smith-Jennie Gai 22-20, 21-12 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou on Tuesday (July 22).

The world No. 4 pair will next take on homesters Gao Jiaxuan-Wu Mengying, who toppled world No. 13 Pang Ron-Su Yin 21-15, 21-16.

This will be the first meeting between Tang Jie-Ee Wei and the world No. 39 duo in an international tournament.

Meanwhile, Pang Ron-Su Yin suffered their eighth early round exit this year and only managed to reach the quarter-finals in the Indonesian Masters in January and Orleans Masters in March.
