Soon Huat-Shevon, Tang Jie-Ee Wei cruise into Indonesian Open quarter-finals


PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie had little trouble booking their spot in the quarter-finals of the Indonesian Open after cruising past home duo Amri Syahnawi-Nita Violina Marwah.

In the second-round match held at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Soon Huat-Shevon stayed in control throughout to wrap up a 21-12, 21-17 win in just 33 minutes on Thursday (June 5).

Standing in their way in the quarter-finals on Friday are familiar foes from Thailand, Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran, who had an easy 21-7, 21-12 victory over India's Sathish Karunakaran-Aadya Variyath.

Second seeds Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei are also through to the quarter-finals and will take on Jesper Toft-Amalie Magelund of Denmark.

They had yesterday, disposed of another Danish pair Mads Vestergaard-Christine Busch 21-9, 21-12 in the second round.
