PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun made Istora Senayan their happy hunting ground when they upstaged seniors Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik to march into the Indonesian Masters final.

The world No. 13 pair played brilliantly to come away with a 21-18, 21-15 win over world No. 5 Aaron-Wooi Yik in Jakarta on Saturday (Jan 25).

It was Wei Chong-Kai Wun's second victory over the 2022 world champions in their past four meetings.

They also made it to the final in Istora last year June but lost to China's world No. 3 Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang in the Indonesian Open.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun will face home favourites and world No. 4 Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto in the title match on Sunday (Jan 26). They have never beaten the local heroes, having lost to them in all the last four meetings.

"Before the match, we just prepared ourselves well because Aaron-Wooi Yik are our seniors. We did not have much pressure, so we were able to play better," Wei Chong told the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

"They were fast, so we had to increase our tempo and were aggressive to win."

Kai Wun said: "We didn't think that we could reach the final. We have another match tomorrow (Sunday) and we hope we can get the best result."
