Sze Fei-Izzuddin set to rise to No. 2 spot in the world

KUALA LUMPUR: Professional men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani are heading to New Delhi this week with high spirits as they are set to rise to world No. 2 spot in the world.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) are expected to update their world rankings on Tuesday, with Sze Fei-Izzuddin, currently ranked third, poised to overtake China’s Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang.

Meanwhile, Denmark’s Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen are expected to maintain their position as world No. 1.

This achievement will serve as a morale booster for Sze Fei-Izzuddin as they begin their Indian Open campaign on Tuesday after their disappointing outing at the Malaysian Open last week.

The duo suffered an early exit in the first round, losing to world No. 26 pair Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard of Denmark.

They now have the chance to redeem themselves when they face compatriots Nur Azryin Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong in the first round of the Indian Open.
