KUALA LUMPUR: Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie’s hopes to end the country’s nine-year wait for a mixed doubles finalist in the Malaysian Open were dashed when they bowed out in the semi-finals.

The world No. 6 Soon Huat-Shevon went down 21-17, 12-21, 21-16 to Thailand’s newly-paired world No. 57 Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran in the last four at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on Saturday (Jan 11).

Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying were the last Malaysian pair to reach final in the home tourney in 2016.
