PETALING JAYA: Coach Wong Tat Meng wants men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia to continue his journey to be the best in the world and has left a few advices for the latter to improve.

Tat Meng and Zii Jia will part ways after the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China starting on Wednesday. The veteran coach has spent 18 months with Zii Jia and helped his charge win a bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games in August.

"Zii Jia has to keep his mindset in check and should not let past victories or defeats weigh him down," said Tat Meng.

"Every win is an experience, not a burden; every loss is a lesson, not a setback.

"Each match is a fresh challenge and a new chance to prove his worth.

Tat Meng wants Zii Jia to stay calm and stay focused in the present.

"I don’t want him to fixate on “expecting to win” but give his all to every single point," said Tat Meng.

"The outcome matters, but what truly counts is enjoying the process and unleashing his true potential.

"I want Zii Jia to trust in himself - only with a steady mindset can he bring out his best performance."
