Two more chances for Aidil to improve his world ranking

Close call: K. Letshanaa’s wait for a first World Tour title continues after she lost in the Indonesian Masters final.

PETALING JAYA: Indepenedent shuttler Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin ran out of gas in the final of the Indonesian Masters in Surayaba but coach Nova Armada has plans to get him going again.

Yesterday, second seed Alwi Farhan of Indonesia stamped his class to send Aidil packing with a 21-10, 21-9 win in just a 31-minute men’s singles final in Surabaya.

Alwi exacted his revenge over Aidil after losing to the Malaysian in the first round of last year’s edition.

For Aidil, it was a meek show following his good win again several seeded players en route to his first Super 100 final.

Nova admitted it was far from a best finish but believed his charge was on the right track to build his world ranking.

Aidil will next take part in two more Super 100 tournaments in India this year, – Guwahati Masters from Dec 3-8 and the Odisha Masters from Dec 10-15.

“Aidil did not bring out his best today (yesterday). Physically he was good but he did not have the right game plan against Alwi, who played well,” said Nova.

“Aidil will have to play in more higher level tournaments as we can see his weak points and quickly improve on those areas.

“We are sending him for two more Masters in India. If he does well, he can quickly move into the top 80 ranking in the world. This will help him to eventually play in Super 300 and 500 tournaments next year.”

Aidil is currently ranked 124th in the world.

Meanwhile, K. Letshanaa emerged as the runners-up in the women singles after losing 19-21, 17-21 to Ni Kadek Dhinda of Indonesia in her first Super 100 final that lasted for 51 minutes.
