Mixed pairs one step away from all-Malaysian final in Swiss Open

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie are just one step away from setting up an all-Malaysian final in the Swiss Open.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei fought hard to beat Thailand's Supak Jomkoh-Supissara Paewsampran 21-18, 17-21, 21-15 to book their spot in the last four.

Soon Huat-Shevon secured an impressive 21-15, 21-10 win over Denmark's Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje in the quarter-final in Basel on Friday (March 22).

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will next face Taiwan's Ye Hong-wei-Lee Chia-hsin while Soon Huat-Shevon will take on Dutch duo Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, it was the end of the road for Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and Orleans Masters champions Choong Hon Jian-Mohd Haikal Nazri in the men's doubles after both lost to Indonesian opponents.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun went down 14-21, 21-23 to Leo Rolly-Daniel Marthin while Hon Jian-Haikal fell 16-21, 20-22 to Sabar Gutama-Moh Reza.
