Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia went down 16-21, 15-21 to India's K. Srikanth in the second round of the Swiss Open.

PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia crashed out of the Swiss Open after going down to India's K. Srikanth in the second round on Thursday (March 21).

The world No. 10 surprisingly lost out 16-21, 15-21 to the Indian world No. 27 in Basel.

It was Zii Jia's second defeat to Srikanth in six meetings with his only other loss coming in the 2022 Japan Open.

There were better fortunes though for men's doubles pair and Orleans Masters champions Choong Hon Jian-Mohd Haikal Nazri, who made it into the last eight after beating Thailand's Pharanyu Kaosamaang-Worrapol Thongsanga 21-12, 21-17.

Hon Jian-Haikal will next face the pair that they defeated in the Orleans tourney final, Indonesia's Sabar Gutama-Moh Reza.

Mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie also reached the quarter-finals.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will take on Thailand's Supak Jomkoh-Supissara Paewsampran next while Soon Huat-Shevon will meet Denmark's Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje.
