Tang Jie-Ee Wei fired up to go far in the absence of top guns

Tricky opponents: Chen Tang Jie (right) and Toh Ee Wei face Singapore’s Commonwealth Games champions Terry Hee-Jessica Tan in the first round today.

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei missed out on a golden opportunity to advance further in the just concluded All-England in Birmingham but should make better progress by capitalising on the absence of top pairs in the Swiss Open.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei had upset former world champions Dechapol Puavanukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand in the first round but suffered an unexpected defeat to Dutch pair Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek in Birmingham.
