Aaron-Wooi Yik reach French Open quarter-finals

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik made it into the French Open quarter-finals on Thursday (March 7).

Aaron-Wooi Yik stayed steady to beat Taiwan's Lee Fang-chih-Lee Fang-jen 21-16, 21-18 at the Adidas Arena in Paris.

Though pleased with the win, Aaron believed he and Wooi Yik still had room for improvement.

"We are happy with the win today (Thursday) but we lost our focus a bit in the second game and there's still more for us to improve," said Aaron in a post match interview with the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

The world No. 5 have a tough task next against South Korea's reigning world champions Kang Min-hyuk-Seo Seung-jae in the last eight on Friday (March 8).

Aaron-Wooi Yik are the last Malaysians left standing in the competition after teammates Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun went down 12-21, 13-21 to India's world No. 1 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in another second round match.
