PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Justin Hoh is taking the positives from his first outing at the ongoing Syed Modi International after an eight-month injury layoff.
Justin, who had made his long awaited competitive return after recovering from a rupture in his left Achilles tendon, had stunned world No. 38 teammate Leong Jun Hao 21-13, 21-17 in the first round before going down 11-21, 21-23 to Indonesia’s world junior champion Alwi Farhan in the second round in Lucknow.
The 19-year-old had squandered a good opportunity to extend his match against Alwi to a decider when holding a 20-12 lead in the second game.
Justin, though, is still satisfied with his overall showing.
“First of all, I’m so happy to get back on court and to represent my country again,” said Justin.
“For now, my priority is to regain my confidence and tournament feelings first before focusing on my results.
“My physical condition is good so far.
