PETALING JAYA: Professional men's doubles shuttlers Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi kept the Malaysian flag flying high in the Japan Masters by booking their spot in the semi-finals on Friday (Nov 17).

The world No. 12 Yew Sin-Ee Yi stayed steady to beat Taiwan's world No. 25 Lee Fang-chih-Lee Fang-jen 21-19, 21-16 in the last eight at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium.

The pair though have a tough task next against China's world No. 8 Liu Yuchen-Ou Xuanyi.

Yew Sin-Ee Yi are the last Malaysian representatives left standing in the tournament after all others fell by the wayside.

Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah suffered a disappointing 13-21, 18-21 defeat to homesters Rena Miyaura-Ayako Sakuramoto.

In the mixed doubles doubles, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei found China's world No. 1 and Asian Games champions Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong too hot to handle and lost out 14-21, 14-21 while professional pair Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing fell 15-21, 16-21 to home favourites Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino.
