PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Lee Zii Jia and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun have made it into the men's singles and doubles semi-finals of the Arctic Open.
In the last eight, Zii Jia had won the first game against fellow Malaysian Leong Jun Hao 21-16, then lost the second 19-21 but obtained the win after the latter retired through injury in the third game at the Energia Arena in Vantaa, Finland on Friday (Oct 13).
World No. 14 Zii Jia will next face Denmark's world No. 10 Anders Antonsen in the semi-finals on Saturday (Oct 14).
Meanwhile, world No. 23 Wei Chong-Kai Wun made it a great day for Malaysia when they stunned Indonesia's 2022 Asian champions Pramudya Kusumawardana-Yeremia Rambitan 22-20, 21-18 to reach the last four.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun will take on Denmark's world No. 29 Rasmus Kjaer-Frederik Sogaard next for a place in the final.
The Danes had stunned independent pair and world No. 9 Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi 16-21, 21-19, 21-14 in another last eight match.
